On This Journey Of Self Discovery
Hello from Audrey,
Many of you have asked for a way to have more contact with me in an “easier on the pocket” way.
You can now “see” me more often. Join with me each week where I will share skills and techniques that until now were only available on a one-to-one basis.
You will have the opportunity to interact, ask questions and get coaching in a supportive online group setting. Of course, we can still do one-on-one sessions, when needed. This TeleWorkshop will give you the peace of mind, knowing you can get answers about issues as they come up.
For over 25 years it has been my purpose to bring information, skills and techniques that help others to free themselves from the shackles of fear, anxiety, panic, terror, procrastination, IBS and Migraines.
The unique thing about this TeleWorkshop is that it is something you can do in the privacy of your own home. All you need is a phone, and the desire to release yourself from old programs that are hampering you.
I’d like to thank my students, clients and friends for motivating me to get this TeleWorkshop started. You can now continue to expand the power of your mind, in an affordable way, no matter where in the world you live.

A few weeks ago I had received a question from one of my readers, about past life and panic. I sent her a quick reply, with a note that I would write more after I was done posting about procrastination.
Recently, when I was snowed in, I was flipping through the channels and came across of a new TV show called “Past Lives.” This show brings up an interesting concept of whether past lives exist, and if they can affect what happens in our present life. Since this TV show about past lives is now running, I have gotten other questions, about the effects of old memories.
So in the next few posts I will be discussing ideas about flash backs, past life memories, childhood memories, decisions and emotions and the effects on our reactions.
In this TV show call “Past Life” the premise is that, not only do past lives exist, but that traumatic past life experiences can be remembered.
The last episode of the TV show there is a person you accepts the young boy’s (actor) “flash backs” as real. Her job is to help him to unravel these memories and the fear that came from them. This is similar to what I do as a hypnotherapist, getting to the root and releasing old “junk” that lies there. Of course in the TV show, she had a purpose not only help the boy but to solve a crime using his “memory of a past life.” Very interesting show.
Here is the Question sent in by one of my readers: Do you think there is anything to the theory that past lives affect and may cause anxiety attacks?
Audrey’s Answer:
Before I answer with my beliefs, we’ll first look a bit deeper at the question. Let’s think about what the questioner really is asking. I’d like to find out what is underneath the question about past lives in relation to anxiety. In my next post I will continue to discuss this past live issues and present life fears.

The following post is from a note that came from one of my amazing clients. She is the mother of a beautiful 3 year old and had used what she has learned in therapy to help her own child. When she told me about how she dealt with her daughter’s fear I asked her to send in her story so others could benefit from it too.
I believe that what she had to say is so powerful that I’m posting it today. Parents may find her story useful as they help their own children deal with fear of the dark. It can also be individualized to help with other specific fears. Thank you “J” for sending this in.
The following is the note from “J”:
“I used to believe my panic was brought on by the changes in weather. Night time also used to bring with it terrible anxiety. Whenever it was a rainy or cloudy day, my panic was at its best (meaning worst). During thunderstorms, I my anxiety was off the charts. Actually in any weather, other than sunny, I felt “unsafe”.
After working with Audrey, so much of my fear has lifted. I now can say that I truly know I am OK no matter the weather. In actuality the weather had nothing to do with my panic, even though at the time it seemed to control me.
Here is what happened that stimulated me to create a story that would help my daughter deal with her fear of the dark. One evening while driving, my 3yr old daughter said, “Mom, I don’t like the night. It’s scary.” When I heard those words, I began to feel sad that my sweet little daughter was dealing with fear and anxiety. And I could feel a rumbling of the old fear I used to have,. But this time, instead of continuing with all types of fearful thoughts, (like I would have done before changing the way I deal with fear,) I decided to turn it into a positive story where both my daughter and I both felt safe. This story just seemed to bubble up out of my mind and this is what I said to my daughter.
“Honey, night time doesn’t need to be scary, because it is just as beautiful as the day time. At night, we get to see the moon and talk with the stars . . . During the day . . . the Sun likes to come out to play. . .
Sometimes . . . the clouds say to the sun . . . “Ms. Sun, you’ve had your fun . . . now it is our turn to come out and stay. . . The rain is wonderful and it likes to wash away dirt and clean the air. . . Thunder and lightening, give us a drum and light show in the sky. . . No matter what the weather or time of day, you can create a place you like to be. . . And if you are scared, you can talk to g-d. G-d . . . who will always be there to listen. . . and if you ask g-d to send a calming light you can feel safe. . . all you need to do is imagine this light all around you . . . and as it is all around you all you need to do is breath it in and notice how different that feels, knowing all is well.”
My daughter LOVED this story and it helped ME as I told it to her as well!”
Again, thanks for this great note. I welcome everyone’s thoughts and I am happy
to post helpful stories and comments like the one above.
Looking forward to hearing from you too.

Using Pain to stop Negative Thoughts. Is there a better way? part 4
Stress Relief Solutions 2 Comments »Continued from part 3.
Hello again I’m Audrey Sussman and this is Part 4, the last in this series about stopping negative thinking. Today I’ll give a quick template of how to use the Rubber Band Snap so you can use it in a positive (not body damaging) way.
Please send me your questions and thoughts about negative thinking, panic, phobia’s or any of issue you are dealing with. I will either answer you personally or will create a post if many people are asking the same question.
And once again if someone in authority, even someone that seems wise and charismatic tells you to do something, if it sounds wrong, please trust you gut, your inner guidance. If something seems “not quite right” at least sleep on the information as you pay attention to the wisdom of your own mind.
In my many years of helping people to stop procrastinating, to get over phobias, and to stop panic and negative thinking, I have found that the set up for these problems starts in early childhood. It is in childhood that most of our negative messages and beliefs are learned. Even if you were to use the painful exercise to stop negative thoughts, creating pain won’t change the limiting belief that is at the root. Pain will probably will cause a person to repress the thoughts, and that can create other problems.
There is a way to use your own mind to change limiting beliefs at the root. It involves using the Transformation System, which provides a much kinder and quicker way to stop negative thoughts. By using the system you can get to the root of the problem and then reprogram reactions that get in the way of living our lives to the fullest. Once that happens you probably won’t need to use this Rubber band snap exercise.
That being said the Rubber Band Snap can be useful. It can “snap” you out of a negative rut. And it can be used without creating bodily harm.
Although there are many other techniques, this is a good one to start with if you remember the purpose. It is to just get to to stop and pay attention. There once you have stopped the pattern you can add positive statements, or look at the problem from a new perspective.
Quick Overview of the Rubber Band Snap Technique
1. You do put the rubberband on your wrist
2. You just snap it slightly to “snap” you back to the present. It should not leave a red mark.
3. Then, you loudly say the word STOP.
4. Take a deep breath. If you have downloaded my “HAAA breath”, that one works great here.
5. Replace the negative thought with an alternative positive one. (I have written about how to create positive “mantra’s” under a different post)
There is some skill required to create alternative positive thoughts that will serve to reprogram the mind.
I will be happy to send full directions for this technique to all that contact me at anxietycontrol@comcast.net. Just tell me what your negative thought is and how you’d tried to change it. I’ll be happy to have a conversation with you during one of my teleseminars to create powerful alternative thoughts. And will also go over the details of the rubber-band snap technique.
Before spending a lot of time writing about this exercise I’m asking you to contact me, so I’ll know if these posts are helpful to you and to be honest I am want to see if there is interest in this type of exercise.
