We had an amazing group of people at the Coaching call for “Freeing Yourself From the Shackles of Fear, Anxiety, & Feeling Stuck”.
The action plan for next week is to find a memory for calm, security or confidence. We’ll be using this memory in a technique that will trigger the calm feeling whenever desired.
For my readers I decided to give you a quick overview of what we are doing, so you can follow along with with this action step. To get coaching on this and many other calming techniques I hope you will sign up for our next TeleWorkshop, May 5, 2010. There is still time to get in on this group.
Creating a feeling of security, confidence, and calm
A. First step for this is to have a vision or memory of the feelings you want.
There are two ways to do this: Find a memory from the past or to create a new memory or “visualization” of a future event.
1.Find a memory from the past.
a. Remember a time when you had the feelings of confidence, calm or comfort.
b. To do this just close your eyes and drift back to a time in your life, even a brief memory when you felt confidence, calm or comfort.
2. Create a “new memory”.
a. To create a “new memory” we need to create a vision of what a confident, calm or comfortable day
b. The vision we create uses not just a picture, but also sound, and feelings.
c. To do that you use your imagination.
I’ll use an example from my online coaching group to demonstrate.
Example: The group member who is directing and producing a movie, could “see herself at an award ceremony”. The famous actress she has in her film, walking to the stage to accept the award. People congratulating her on her amazing movie, on a job well done. She would step into that “future self” and feel the feelings as if she were there.
Group members working on relationship issues would create a different image. One might see herself in the future, with her son hugging her in total joy, as he graduates from college. She would step into that image and feel all the success as a parent, having brought up such a wonderful loving son.
Another person would in an airplane, off on an adventure, pleased that he now feels calm and relaxed. As he steps into himself he can feel the amazement that this is now so easy to do. Perhaps it would be a future image after having traveled successfully, many, many times.
Do step one. Start by having some fun with this exercise. We are using this to expand your mind to the positive side of your creativity. These images can then be used in later exercises for setting off a “touch anchor” or for another technique call the “map across.”

Hope to have you join us in this journey of self discovery.

When they first start working with me, over 60% of my clients reveal that they believe procrastination means that they are inherently lazy or unproductive. Yet, when we start talking about how they live, we find that these same people are able to juggle many of life’s challenges with ease. The people who find their way to my office or seminars are usually high achievers, and in many cases very successful in their careers and life. So procrastination has nothing to do with being inept, lazy or apathetic.
It is actually just the opposite. For most people procrastination is caused by FEAR. Fear can come from early childhood experiences, and the beliefs a child forms because of them. It is a pity that so many talented, intelligent people secretly carry around fear at the deepest level of their unconscious mind.
Fortunately, there are many ways we can lift these unconscious fears, and free you to work through your inner blocks, and become the person you really want to be.
If you’d like to find out how, please join me the Teleseminar on January 28, 2010. Once you sign up using the box on the right, you can even submit questions you’d like answered during the Teleseminar.
Spots are limited, so please sign up now.
I look forward to sharing these techniques with you.
Sincerely,
Audrey Sussman

Dec 11
(continued from this morning’s post ( 3 )
Remember that each of us processes information in a different way. The 3 types of processing are visual, auditory and kinesthetic. To find out your “lead system” do this simple exercise. Imagine an apple. Do this before reading the rest of the instructions. Now that you’ve thought of an apple. Here is how you know what your lead or preferred system of processing is.
If you are “talking to yourself” about what type of apple you are supposed to be thinking about, you just might be an auditory, because you are hearing yourself speak about the apple in your head. An auditory person might be thinking about the crunching sound as a bite is taken.
If you see a red or green apple in your mind’s eye, or if you can say if it is a large or small apple, then you are probably a visual. Because you are seeing it “in your mind’s eye”.
For a person who is kinesthetic you might tell me that it’s a cold apple, or that its a large heavy own. If you can imagine feeling the coolness before you even see it i”n your mind’s eye”, chances are you might process information in a kinesthetic. (feeling) way.
For a hypnotherapist knowing the lead system is important in helping a client easily to go into trance. You would want to use words that follow the preferred system. As a hypnotherapist we help people to learn to purposefully use all three Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic. When you include all three in your work you get a very powerful way of creating change. Also if you know about these three type of ways of processing you can use it to create rapport in an instant. But that is a whole other seminar.

(Excerpt from email)
Dear Dr. Sussman,
I thoroughly enjoyed your seminar this Saturday and would love to meet with you for a consultation. . .
There were also a few questions I was unable to ask at the seminar. . .
QUESTION: If you fall asleep during a hypnotic therapy session do you wake us in order to move forward, meaning is there an awake participation that is required throughout the therapy session?
ANSWER: During the hypnotic work we will be doing, you will be awake and aware, just in a slightly altered state so we can access information from the unconscious. It is similar to when you are watching TV and you’re “in the action” so to speak, but if someone asks you for the time you would be able to respond easily.
QUESTION: Do you practice EFT at all?
ANSWER: I am familiar with EFT and do some techniques that are similar. But, I like to be able to “see” what is changing, and discuss it with you. There is a lot of interaction as you watch the changes happening in the old emotions. Your be amazed as new learnings, and beliefs are incorporated on your time line, all the way to “the present.”
QUESTION: My insurance company allows for so many visits a year for mental health, would this be a part of that? Do you submit to any insurance companies?
ANSWER: As for insurance. The way we work it you pay as you go, then you submit a receipt to your insurance company and they reimburse you, whatever your plan provides for. We can give you some codes so you can check with your insurance company. HMO type insurance typically does not cover.
QUESTION: Are there any books that you recommend? I already had written down your book, the Power of Thought.
ANSWER: There are many great books I recommend. I am happy that you felt stimulated to continue your education, that was the second goal of the workshop on Saturday. As we work together I’ll talk to you about specific books that you’ll find helpful in continuing your education about he power of your own mind.
Some books are very scientific somewhat technical, and others are helpful and easy to read. And of course many along the spectrum. My book “Power of Thought, untold secrets of the unconscious” can only be ordered through me at this time. For a scientific type of author look of Ernsest Rossi. For books on NLP look for either Bandler or Grinder, they have some great books on NLP. We we speak I’ll give you names of books and authors that are specific to your needs and learning style.
