Mind Expanding Exercise Step 1 – Setting Memory of Calm, Confidence, and Comfort

Seminar, Stress Relief Solutions, Teleseminars, procrastination, worry No Comments »

We had an amazing group of people at the Coaching call for “Freeing Yourself From the Shackles of Fear, Anxiety, & Feeling Stuck”.

The action plan for next week is to find a memory for calm, security or confidence. We’ll  be using this memory in a technique that will trigger the calm feeling whenever desired.

For my readers I decided to give you a quick overview of what we are doing, so you can follow along with with this action step.  To get coaching on this and many other calming techniques  I hope you will sign up for our next TeleWorkshop, May 5, 2010. There is still time to get in on this group.

Creating a feeling of security, confidence, and calm

A. First step for this is to have a vision or memory of the feelings you want.

There are two ways to do this: Find a memory from the past or to create a new memory or  “visualization” of a future event.

1.Find a memory from the past.
a.  Remember a time when you had the feelings of confidence, calm or comfort.
b. To do this just close your eyes and drift back to a time in your life, even a brief memory when you felt
confidence, calm or comfort.

2. Create a “new memory”.
a. To create a “new memory” we need to create a vision of what a confident, calm or comfortable day
b. The vision we create uses not just a picture, but also sound, and feelings.
c. To do that you use your imagination.

I’ll use an example from my online coaching group to demonstrate.

Example: The group member who is directing and producing a movie, could “see herself at an award ceremony”.   The famous actress she has in her film, walking to the stage to accept the award.  People congratulating her on her amazing movie, on a job well done.  She would step into that “future self” and feel the feelings as if she were there.

Group members working on relationship issues would create a different image.  One might see herself in the future, with her son hugging her in total joy, as he graduates from college.   She would step into that image and feel all the success as a parent, having brought up such a wonderful loving son.

Another person would in an airplane, off on an adventure, pleased that he now feels calm and relaxed. As he steps into himself he can feel the amazement that this is now so easy to do. Perhaps it would be a future image after having traveled successfully, many, many times.

Do step one.  Start by having some fun with this exercise.  We are using this to expand your mind to the positive side of your creativity. These images can then be used in later exercises for setting off a “touch anchor” or for another technique call  the “map across.”

To get more information on the online coaching group.  Go to action ends procrastination.

Hope to have you join us in this journey of self discovery.

Great turnout for Conquering Procrastination.

Stress Relief Solutions, Teleseminars, techniques for Stress Relief, worry No Comments »

We had a great group on the TeleSeminar about Conquering Procrastination. I really appreciated all of you for being there on the call. As I was ending the call, one brave person raised her hand. I started the recording and we did 12 minutes talking about fear and panic. I’ll put that call up on the website shortly. It was really interesting. After doing the rating of her anxiety and then doing the first stress relief exercise given on the call, she found her level went down. Wait till you hear about her struggle even to recognize that she had a shift. I’ve since talked to this interesting woman and she took my advice and downloaded a great book to read on her computer.

In the next few posts I’ll be talking about the upcoming 4 modules TeleSeminar. After seeing the questions that came in after the call, I’ve decided to gear the home study course to fear, panic and anxiety, with one full session devoted to relief of procrastination and how to set “no fail” goals. .

The post for tomorrow will be on why people procrastinate, and tips on finding the underlying issues behind it.

When they first start working with me, over 60% of my clients reveal that they believe procrastination means that they are inherently lazy or unproductive. Yet, when we start talking about how they live, we find that these same people are able to juggle many of life’s challenges with ease. The people who find their way to my office or seminars are usually high achievers, and in many cases very successful in their careers and life. So procrastination has nothing to do with being inept, lazy or apathetic.

It is actually just the opposite. For most people procrastination is caused by FEAR. Fear can come from early childhood experiences, and the beliefs a child forms because of them. It is a pity that so many talented, intelligent people secretly carry around fear at the deepest level of their unconscious mind.

Fortunately, there are many ways we can lift these unconscious fears, and free you to work through your inner blocks, and become the person you really want to be.

If you’d like to find out how, please join me the Teleseminar on January 28, 2010.  Once you sign up using the box on the right, you can even submit questions you’d like answered during the Teleseminar.

Spots are limited, so please sign up now.

I look forward to sharing these techniques with you.

Sincerely,

Audrey Sussman

Underlying emotions under writers block

Stress Relief Solutions, Teleseminars, procrastination No Comments »

Writers block isn’t just about the actual writing.  It’s about the subconscious, underlying emotions that get in the way of writing.  For deep rooted emotional blocks, many students set up private coaching sessions with me.  In these sessions, we use cutting-edge hypnotic techniques to get under the surface, uncover the subconscious roots of your creative blocks, and eliminate them at the source.

Here’s something you can do today to put yourself on the path to discovering the writer within you: give yourself the permission to write badly.

All writers write badly, all the time.  Even the true greats leave hundreds of discarded pages in their hard drives, never to see the light of day.  Accepting that this is a natural part of the process allows you to focus your energy where it belongs: not on judging the pages, but on creating them.

Audrey says that she reminds her clients who are writers, to write for the “trash can.”  This way they are freed up to write anything, anyway they want, since it is for the trash.  It doesn’t have to be good.  So much great writing has come “out of the trash can” writing.  She learned this technique from someone who felt stuck in his music writing, and once he started thinking of writing this way it opened him up to his own creativity.  That’s the great thing about being a coach, you learn from your clients.  What is a stumbling block for one person may actually be just the key they need to feel free for another.

Jake says that when you give yourself permission to write badly, you are actually allowing inspiration in.  You will notice that your writing becomes more fun and exciting, freer, and fuller. Writing ceases to be a chore, and begins to feel like an adventure.  Before long, you’ll discover that you no longer have to drag yourself to your journal in the morning.  You actually want to write!

Of course, there is a time when judging your work is important, when it’s time to invite the editing brain to the table, and give it free reign to pull apart the pages you’ve written.  But it is not during the initial creation of your work.  Remember, it is only by writing the bad stuff that you discover the good.

We are getting closer to the fr.ee teleseminar on “Re-programing the Mind to Stop Procrastination “.  If you would like to Conquer Procrastination and Fear, This powerful teleSeminar is for you.    Want to be invited?

Writing fears have little to do with reality.

Stress Relief Solutions, Teleseminars, procrastination No Comments »

Today Jacob Krueger continues to talk about Fear and it’s role in procrastination.

Question (from a participant in the 2010 writing challenge):
I’ve been doing the challenge, but I hate everything I’m writing.  And now I feel like I’m starting to lose steam.

Jake’s Answer:
As writers we play a strange game with ourselves.  Instead of dwelling on our successes, we focus on our failures as evidence that we were not meant to be writers.  Usually this has more to do with fear than anything else.  Fear of failure.   Fear of rejection.  Fear that we don’t have what it takes.

When your judgment of your writing is based on fear, it has little connection to reality.  You may dismiss brilliant writing as terrible simply because you are afraid that others won’t like it.  Or you may fall in love with scenes that are not working, simply because they feel safe to you.

There are many ways to overcome these kinds of fears.  Many writers find that it helps to get honest feedback on their work from writers they respect.  That is one of the benefits of  being part of Jake’s Workshops or Master Classes.  This is a community where you can receive honest feedback about what is actually working or not working in your writing, rather than playing out your worst fears in your head.

Jake continues to explain that writers block isn’t just about the actual writing.  It’s about the subconscious, underlying emotions that get in the way of writing.  For deep rooted emotional blocks, many students set up private coaching sessions.  In these sessions, Jake teaches them to use cutting-edge hypnotic techniques to get under the surface, uncover the subconscious roots of creative blocks, and eliminate them at the source.
