Fear & Anxiety Gone 2nd post

Exercises and Tips, Stress Relief Solutions, about the Anxiety Control Center, articles by Audrey No Comments »

The Transformation System™ was originally created to relieve panic and phobia and over time we have found that it also works in re-programming other distressing emotions such as depression, sadness, grief, self-doubt, fear and anger.  Over time we have added new techniques to this system so people can get relief from Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Migraines.  The results people get sometimes seems to be instantaneous.

When people first learn that hypnotic techniques are part of the system they have a number of different reactions, ranging from excitement about trying something new, to skepticism and even fear.

In talking to many people I have found that much of the fear about hypnosis comes from misconceptions gotten from movies and stage hypnosis shows.  In both movies and shows the hypnotist seems to have some sort of magical power and can control the hypnotic “subjects.”   An old movie many people bring up, had a  man named Svengali who was able to use hypnosis to get women to do his bidding.  This movie caused many people to believe and fear that posthypnotic suggestions would make them do something they wouldn’t want to do.

This is not how hypnosis really works.  In reality, therapeutic hypnosis is not about taking control but giving back power and choice to the individual.  Although posthypnotic suggestions do trigger a response after the trance state, a person will only act on the suggestions if it fits with who they are.

Hypnotic suggestions not acceptable to a person’s unconscious will eventually be undone even if they were to be accepted at first.  Of course, with hypnosis it is most important to feel comfortable with the person doing the hypnotic work.

I’ve put together a few things to consider when choosing your hypnotherapist.  Of course we hope you will choose one of our therapists at the Anxiety Control Center, but no matter who you choose we hope the following tips are of help.

One of the most important things once you choose your hypnotherapist is to make sure that you and your therapist are clear about the goals you want to achieve.  Goals need to be set, before any work is done.

The following are some questions you might want to ask when deciding on a hypnotherapist
1. Ask where they received their training
2. Make sure they are at least board certified
3. It is a good sign if they have at least a master’s in a health related field,
4. If they don’t have at least a master’s degree ask if they are supervised by someone who does.
5. Once you have decided on a hypno-therapist you can ask to experience a MINI-trance. A mini-trance is, a brief trance session, you can be fully awake and aware during this; you can even have your eyes open.   It is a great way to get comfortable with hypnosis.
6.  Why I recommend using hypnosis.
a.  Using a light trance state opens your mind to information not available in the ordinary conscious state.
b.  A hypnotic or trance state also lets you tap into the healing power of your own unconscious mind.
c.  In the trance state you can release old emotions and re-program new more beneficial patterns of behavior.

So, if fear ever stops you from doing something, if you have self-doubt, are suffering with panic or anxiety you will find that hypnosis is a quick, lasting way to get rid of these limits.   For 2 easy to learn hypnotic techniques

Help for Stress, Anxiety and Panic

Hypnosis and Trance, Stress Relief Solutions, about the Anxiety Control Center No Comments »

Dear Friends,

Whenever I tell people I work at the Anxiety Control Center, the usual comment I hear is, “We can really use your help.”  So it’s obvious that stress and anxiety is familiar to most people.

When I mention that I am a Board Certified Hypnotist, the responses get really interesting.  Invariably, someone will ask if I can make them bark like a dog or do something they don’t want to.

Even after 25 years in practice it still delights me when my clients are amazed at the changes they are able to make.   One of my clients described her experience using the Transformation System as “totally life changing.”  She realized that she was in a trance state, and yet was also awake and aware as she  transformed a traumatic, painful event into one that no longer sparked any reaction. I believe that one of  the best parts of using  Ericksonian Hypnosis is that you are an active part of the process of change.   When you use the Transfromation System you need to be aware so you can tap into your own creative healing source.

Hypnosis has been around for centuries, many times it has been surrounded by mystery. One important part of my therapeutic work (and in all of my books) is to take the mystery out of hypnosis, and make it easy for anyone to use.  Therefore I have written a number of easy to follow books on the subject. And at times I get wonderful notes from people telling me of their new found freedom,  without having to see a therapist. using techniques I teach in e-seminars and books.  Some people find it easier to tap into the vast resources of their own unconscious mind,  by listening to directions given on my CD’s.   For trauma and other deeply repressed emotional issues it is wise to have the expertise of a therapist trained in these methods.

Most people experience the hypnotic state in their every day lives, for it is a naturally occurring state. Awhile back when I lived in New York, I would take the train to work everyday. Many times I would fall asleep and then be amazed when I would wake up one stop before I would have to get off the train. What I didn’t know then was that this was a sort of hypnotic state, where my unconscious mind was taking care of things while my conscious mind was in a sleepy state.

You can use this information to develop yourself into the person you want to be, increase your choices in life, and remove self-imposed limitations. My hypnotic advice to you is to be eager to discover how you’ll change comfortable in the coming weeks after using these techniques.

Wishing you well,

Audrey Sussman, PHD, LCSW, NBCCH, CSL

Questions About Hypnotherapy

Seminar, Stress Relief Solutions, about the Anxiety Control Center, articles by Audrey Comments Off

Here is the first in our series of weekly posts to answer your questions.  Keep sending your questions to askdraudrey@gmail.com or go to anxietycontrolcenter.com and leave a comment.

(Excerpt from email)

Dear Dr. Sussman,
I thoroughly enjoyed your seminar this Saturday and would love to meet with you for a consultation. . .
There were also a few questions I was unable to ask at the seminar. . .

QUESTION: If you fall asleep during a hypnotic therapy session do you wake us in order to move forward, meaning is there an awake participation that is required throughout the therapy session?

ANSWER:  During the hypnotic work we will be doing, you will be awake and aware, just in a slightly altered state so we can access information from the unconscious.  It is similar to when you are watching TV and you’re “in the action” so to speak,  but if someone asks you for the time you would be able to respond easily.

QUESTION: Do you practice EFT at all?

ANSWER: I am familiar with EFT and do some techniques that are similar.  But, I like to be able to “see” what is changing, and discuss it with you.  There is a lot of interaction as you watch the changes happening in the old emotions.  Your be amazed as new learnings, and beliefs are incorporated on your time line, all the way to “the present.”

QUESTION: My insurance company allows for so many visits a year for mental health, would this be a part of that? Do you submit to any insurance companies?

ANSWER: As for insurance.  The way we work it you pay as you go, then you submit a receipt to your insurance company and they reimburse you, whatever your plan provides for.  We can give you some codes so you can check with your insurance company.  HMO type insurance typically does not cover.

QUESTION:  Are there any books that you recommend? I already had written down your book, the Power of Thought.

ANSWER:   There are many great books I recommend.  I am happy that you felt stimulated to continue your education, that was the second goal of the workshop on Saturday.   As we work together I’ll talk to you about specific books that you’ll find helpful in continuing your education about he power of your own mind.

Some books are very scientific somewhat technical, and others are helpful and easy to read.  And of course many along the spectrum.  My book “Power of Thought, untold secrets of the unconscious” can only be ordered through me at this time. For a scientific type of author look of Ernsest Rossi. For books on NLP look for either Bandler or Grinder, they have some great books on NLP.  We we speak I’ll give you names of books and authors that are specific to your needs and learning style.
